Kate Elliott
Director of Operations

Kate co-founded Changing The Flow after finishing her MA at the University of Waterloo with a thesis entitled: “The System is Built to Exclude Them”: Using Sociality to Manage Health amongst Women Experiencing Homelessness. This research involved communicating with both marginalized women and organization stakeholders to understand both the individual and structural level circumstances around homelessness, and specifically relating these to women’s health. Since emigrating from the UK to Canada in 2018, Kate has co-founded the Kitchener, Waterloo, Cambridge chapter of The Period Purse and dedicated time to eradicating period poverty and advocating for menstrual equity. Her broad passion is about achieving gender equity and making sure that this includes all members of society.

Kevin Hiebert
Director of Business Development

Kevin owned and operated a successful IT services business until selling the firm in 2013 and taking an executive position in the acquiring firm. In 2014, Kevin left the organization and became a stay-at-home parent to his then 8 and 9 year old daughters, enabling his wife to return to a full-time career. Thus began an ongoing journey of discovery and reflection around the treatment of girls and women, gender equity and the role he can play, as a 49 year old male. In late 2018, while researching guests for his weekly radio show, Kevin came across an organization addressing period poverty and striving for menstrual equity. Within months, Kevin was co-founding and co-leading the Kitchener-Waterloo-Cambridge (KWC) chapter of The Period Purse with Kate Elliott. Kevin has presented on the topic of menstrual equity, including two presentations to Cambridge city council. Kevin’s current focus is elevating those who work to make the world a better place in the areas of menstrual equity, homelessness care and gender equality. Kevin is fluent in English and French.
